The title really does all the hard graft for me here, so without further ado let's get to it.
I've included links to the best prices I could find for each product at the time of writing (just click the photo).
OGX Damage Remedy+ Coconut Miracle Oil
Full price £8.99 but often 1/2 price in Tesco, Boots or Look Fantastic
Why I love it?
Multi purpose product - I use it before washing to protect hair from damage. I focus on mid lengths to ends and then whatever is left on my hands I will use on the roots.
I also use it on dry hair to add shine, tame frizz and smooth fly-aways if I choose to blow dry. A little goes a long way so it's amazing value for money. Plus it smells delicious.
Umberto Giannini Hair Detox Activated
Charcoal Purifying Shampoo
Full price £9.95 so just scrapes into this
list but UG always seems to be on buy
3 for 2 in boots.
Why I love it?
This is amazing at clarifying my hair and getting rid of product build up.
I only use it roughly every 5 or 6th wash.
It leaves hair soft and cleansed without it feeling stripped or dry. It's sulphate and silicone free.
If you get an itchy scalp I would absolutely recommend you try this detox shampoo.
It does not foam as a 'sulphate' shampoo would so don't expect a lather and its black so prepare for that too!
Monday Hair Care Volume Shampoo
Full price £5.
£3.35 at Tesco with Clubcard. Run. See you there!
Why I love it?
It's Sulphate free, silicone free, mineral oil free and it does exactly what it promises. My hair always feels fuller and I get more lift at the roots. Although it's SLS free it somehow still manages to get a lather going. It's amazing and probably the best ever value for money shampoo I've used.
Elizavecca CER-100 Collage Ceramide Protein Treatment
Full price approx. £6.50
Ok let me address the price being approx. - this product isn't available on the UK high street as it's a Korean hair care product and so depending on which website you use prices really vary!
Why I love it?
It is hands down the best 'dupe' of Olaplex 3 I have used.
I apply it after clarifying my hair (see shampoo recommendation above). I leave it on my wet/damp hair for a minimum of 20 minutes.
It is fantastic for colour treated, heat damaged and over styled/over washed hair as the protein helps strengthen strands and improve elasticity.
Since it's a protein treatment rather than a conditioning one I still then follow up with conditioner but my hair is wavy and needs all the moisture it can get it's greedy cuticles on.
I buy mine from YesStyle or iHerb depending who has it on deal. Very reliable services just longer delivery times.
Aldi Lacura Volume Conditioner
Full price £1.09
If you hair needs protein you need to try this conditioner.
How do I know if my hair needs protein Tori? I hear you ask.
Does your hair feel floofy (very technical term I invented), mushy, feel like candy floss to the touch? Is it stringy and/or limp? Is it over shedding, breaking and/or has poor elasticity? And finally is it colour treated, over washed & regularly heat styled?
If you are nodding along at this stage it is very likely your hair would appreciate a protein treatment and/or protein conditioner and honestly at this price point, why wouldn't you try it!
Although I have included a link (click on image) this is usually an instore only purchase.
Kitsch - The Satin Scrunchies
Full price £6.50 for 5
This is my most recent purchase and have only truly been testing them for a couple of weeks - I like to be upfront about these things.
However they seem very well made and are not too tight so I haven't experienced any headaches from wearing them.
They are suitable for all hair types and the satin fabric means they haven't tangled my wavy/curly hair or caused any shedding.
They only had a pack of pink in Boots but I found this Blush & Black selection on Amazon with 15% off.
If you want to see more detail about each of these products and how I use them in my hair care routine, check out the YouTube video below where I run through them all in a bit more detail.
I hope you enjoyed this blog post. I've got loads of ideas bubbling away but if you have any suggestions for future content please feel free to comment below or if you like to keep things private, email me at info.browsandlashes@gmail.com
Thanks so much for reading. Have a lovely week.
